Today I want to give you some local real estate market updates.
The good news for homeowners is that home prices are on the rise. Year to date, prices are up about 6% over last year. September of this year was up 2.76% over September of 2016.
What about the number of units sold? Sales are up year to date by 1% over last year. It was a different story for September; the number of units that sold was actually down 3.3% when we compare September 2017 to 2016. That’s pretty much due to the lower inventory of homes that are on the market.
Right now, there are just under 4,000 residential properties on the MLS—that number is likely to decline due to the season that we’re in.
The good news for sellers is that, statistically, homes sell quicker and for more money when they’re sold in the cold season.

That said, if you’re thinking of selling your home, this is a great time to put your home on the market. Prices are still good, so take advantage of the home selling season.
